Technology

Our proprietary technology for EV integration is currently deployed in 100% electric, converted London Taxi Cabs. Clipper Cabs were certified by Oxford City Council and successful road trials have reached a point where they will be rented to drivers.

Founders’ Story

We were shocked by the data that came out in 2016 that poor air quality contributes to premature deaths of over 40,000 people in the UK (Royal College of Physicians).

Coupled with the climate crisis, the swift removal of diesel engines in towns and cities seemed essential and urgent. We decided to do something about it and focused on developing cost effective upcycling solutions for the vehicles with the biggest impact.

There are still over 6,000 diesel cabs operating in the UK. In the race to electrify we could lose the iconic London taxi from our streets. Taxi drivers need better options.

We developed an EV tech platform, proven in converted taxis with DVSA approval and over 20,000 miles of road testing. The Clipper Cab  can do up to 150 miles on a single charge and with a very low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO),  our platform is the perfect solution for commercial vehicles to go emissions free.

    Taxis are responsible for 17.7% of transport CO2 emissions in our city centres. Their drivers are mandated to switch to electric vehicles, but they are not given enough affordable choices. Further, scrapping purpose built vehicles and replacing them with new ones every 12 years is costly, both in terms of money spent and overall carbon footprint.
